1. Troubleshooting Your Mint

1.1 Does Mint 130 support iPod Touch 2G or iPhone 3G?

A: Mint 130 supports every iPod models including iPod Touch 2G and Nano 4g. Mint 130 charge those iPod and plays all music. For Nano, please use the adapter tray that came with your iPod package. For iPhone 3G, Mint 130 charges, plays music, and you can make and receive a call while your iPhone is plugged into the dock. But, Mint 130 is not officially certified for "works with iPhone" program. If you plug your iPhone into the dock, iPhone will display a warning message "This accessory is not equipped with work with iPhone. Do you want to set up airplane mode?" Either touch "no" button or ignore the message for five seconds and the message will disappear and all iPod and iPhone functions will work except the speaker phone feature. The recent change of power specs for iPod is that they no longer support charging with firewire (IEEE 1394) port, which had been one of default ports of Mac. Mint does not utilize firewire and is not affected by the new specification. Mint charges iPod and iPhone through the iPod connector.

1.2 Does Mint support iPod Nano?

A: Yes, it does. Mint 200, 130, 220 and 300 models have universal iPod dock that charges and plays all iPods except Shuffle. The new Nano-Chromatic works on the Mint iPod dock. It is recommended that you use the dock adapter tray that comes with your iPod Nano.

1.3 Where did the music go?

A: Try these quick fixes:
1. Check the power connections.
2. Check the connection between the Mint amplifier and the Mint speakers.
3. Make sure the correct source-selection button is selected on the Mint amplifier or remote control. The button should glow green.
4. Check the connections between the music source and the Mint amplifier. For an iPod, make sure it is properly seated in the iPod dock.
5. Make sure that your music source is turned on and that music is selected.
6. Turn up the volume. Make sure that mute is not selected on any system component.

1.4 When I disconnect the USB cable from my PC and reconnect it, the sound is not playing through my Mint amplifier. What should I do?

A: Close Windows Media Player and reopen it. If the sound still isn’t playing through the Mint amplifier, shut down your PC and restart.

1.5 What do I do if I’m experiencing interference issues with the Mint amplifier/dock?

A: Increase the distance between the affected equipment and the Mint amplifier. If you are still experiencing interference, connect the Mint amplifier into an outlet located on a circuit different from which the receiver is connected.

1.6 Why is there no sound from the speaker after I plug in the Mint USB Audio card?

A: You must first plug in the Mint USB Audio card before opening any media player or internet browser. Please follow these steps to hear the great wireless sound from the Mint speakers. 1) First, close your internet browser and any media player you currently have open. 2) Unplug the USB Audio card and plug it back in the USB port. 3) Then, open your media player and click play or open your internet browser and any video or music sites and all your computer's audio will play through your Mint speakers, wirelessly.

1.7 Why did the Mint DS speaker system turn off when playing my music extremely loud?

A: The Mint DS speaker system may turn off to protect you and the system from harm. If this happens, turn the power button on the Mint amplifier. Wait for five seconds and press the power button on the Mint amplifier to the "on" position.

1.9 How do I replace the remote control battery?

A: Replace the battery when the remote stops operating normally:

1. Place the tip of a pencil in the small slot at the bottom of the remote. Pull the tray open.
2. Replace with a CR2025 three-volt lithium battery.
3. Push the tray closed until it clicks in to place.
4. Dispose of used battery properly. (See next.)

1.10 How do I dispose of my used battery properly?

A: We're glad you asked. Lithium-ion batteries can easily rupture, ignite or explode when exposed to high temperatures or even direct sunlight. Short-circuiting a Liion battery can cause it to ignite or explode. Never open a Li-ion battery's casing. Li-ion batteries contain safety devices that protect the inside cells from abuse. If damaged, these can also cause the battery to ignite or explode. Do not dispose of in a fire or attempt to recharge. For more information on proper battery disposal, refer to the battery manufacturer.

Second, the Mint DS is a Digital Music Station designed to play all of your digital music sources - including iPod. The Mint DS also plays music from your computer library either from a PC or Mac via a USB connection. Playing music from your USB port is a unique feature which usually requires a separate (and expensive) product. Not only that, you can play nearly every music device, game or external CD, TV, or satellite radio source through the universal Line-In connector.
